Fleming Student Administrative Council
Faculty Strike – What you need to know
The labour dispute is between College Faculty across the province represented by OPSEU and Colleges. Fleming SAC is not involved in these discussions. As always, we are focussed on the health and wellbeing of students and will continue to support students in any way we can during this time.
We encourage students to stay informed through the SAC website, D2L and the Student Portal regarding the status of classes and other services. As well, there will be email updates sent to your Fleming College email account and news shared via the Fleming SAC App and Fleming SAC Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Regarding notice for return to class the college has stated the following, “Unfortunately we cannot say for sure. It would depend on the day of the week when the strike ends. There would be reasonable time allowed for students coming from long distances.”
Should there be a strike, the Steele Centre will be open daily as will the SAC Offices. Transit will run on the same posted schedules with pick-up and drop off being at the Wellness Centre instead of the locations on campus. Handi-Van Service will still drop off and pick-up on campus. There will be a reduction in services during Reading Week with limited hours of operation.
The Fleming SAC Annual General Meeting will still happen as planned on Monday, October 16th at 3:00 p.m. in the Steele Centre, regardless of any labour action. Students are encouraged to come to the meeting to learn about SAC activities and to have free pizza.
Students can contact Fleming SAC at 705-749-5547 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, Our office hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and we are in Room C1430.
