What is F.A.S.T?
The Fleming College First Aid Support Team (FAST) is a volunteer group within the school, providing first aid support on Sutherland Campus and Residence. Our team provides support 24 hours a day and 7 days a week during the school year! FAST is dispatched through security to any medical emergency on campus in co-ed teams typically of 3 people. The use of FAST is completely free too!
Why Join The First Aid Support Team?
We are a team of unique individuals and though our goals and backgrounds are diverse, we are all connected by our desire to help other people. It is because of this and the large amount of time that the teams spends together through training and social events, that every new member quickly becomes an integral part of our closely-knit group.
Become a member of FAST will also expose you to many real emergency situations that will get your adrenaline flowing and put your leadership skills and first aid training to the test.
These experiences will ingrain in you the leadership skills and the confidence to excel in all areas of life. Finally, you will be able to help other people when they need you the most.
What is required to join FAST?
Valid Standard First Aid: CPR-C certifications (Certified by any approved agency)
Minimum one shift per week:
- Able to handle stressful situations in a calm and controlled manner

What Have We Been Up To This Year?
So far this year we have been busy around the school and residence! We have been a presence at the pub nights that are hosted by the Steele Center. Training has been happening once a month and they are full of scenarios and pizza! What is better than free food and some amazing company?
In November, a team of 6 FAST members attended the annual CERT Mixer and competed against universities and colleges from all across Ontario. Fleming was able to bring home a third place win!
Come February we hope to be sending teams to the NCCER 2013 conference. This is an event that invites teams from all over to come and compete and meet!
